I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury from a motor accident in late 2004 to such an extent that my wife and family were told that I had less than 1% of surviving. After spending 4 months in hospital I have recovered physically to such an extent that my resultant mental handicap does not show.

When discharged from hospital I was not given the opportunity of having counselling whilst I was a patient. I was provided with some counselling by work cover for 2 sessions which was mainly for them to assess the extent my brain injury so they could finalise their file on my case and not for my benefit. When I reached the realization and admitted to myself, as I was told by the hospital system, that I would never work again and would probably only get marginally better than I was, over the ensuing years following, I  was then left to my own devices. As far as I was concerned, and very important to me, as I became aware of in my rehabilitation the clinical psychologist provided by work  cover did not provided any positive counselling or rehabilitation advice regarding my brain injury, or the resultant social changes that would affect me and my life style. After spending some time searching TBI and Brain Injuries on the web I discovered Christian King.

To say that Christian has been helpful to me and my wife from the resultant phone calls and emails and my understanding and acceptance of my TBI and how it would affect my life and resultant life style, would be an understatement. I have never been happier and content to such an extent that my family and friends note the improvement.

The biggest regret I have is that it took me over 3 years to find Christian. It is a blessing to communicate with somebody who empathizes, understands and knows what those who suffer from TBI and their  loved ones go through. Christian became my life change case manager purely because of his understanding and advice that helped me to accept my TBI and with the life changes that come with it. Without his counselling I am sure my life would have been unbearable to me and those in family whom I love. Most of all he has helped me to love myself.

As a TBI sufferer and from personal experience I recommend Christian and the Brain Injury Centre.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you.

We have not communicated for some time and I often think of you and your tremendous work and effort.

Things are well with me and I have gone from strength to strength which I give you credit for getting me there. We have moved from our apartment into a two storied house, still on the golf course, which is another sign to Pauline and I that my progress is continuing. I am playing golf 2 to 3 times a week, go to the gym 3 times a week, twice for cardio and once for weights etc with a personal trainer. This all assists in managing my fatigue, though it is still there and I need a sleep during the day. I now have a mobility scooter which has given me so much independence and has helped tremendously in my rehab.

My photography is going well and really I have an ideal lifestyle which is envied by many. If only they knew how hard it has been but I am there!!!!!!!!

I thank you once again Christian for your guidance to accept this TBI and that is the main point that has got me to this stage. I still have moments of depression but know how to get through it now.

Thanks again.
